The Book of Revelation – Part II

A Biblical Study of Future Events

What does the Bible says about the church today, the rapture, the tribulation, the antichrist, the second coming of Jesus Christ, judgments of people both saved and lost, the Millennial Kingdom, heaven and hell and other future events?

Beginning September 9, we began a message series in the Book of Revelation. As we continue to take this journey in 2019 through the beautiful book of scripture, we will dig deeper into what the Bible says about where we are now and what is going to happen in the future.

The Book of Revelation

The Scroll and the Lamb – Part I (January 6, 2019)

Revelation 5:6-7 NKJV

6 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7 Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.

The Great Tribulation – Revelation 6 (January 27, 2019)

Zephaniah 1:14-18 NKJV

14 The great day of the Lord is near;It is near and hastens quickly. The noise of the day of the Lord is bitter; There the mighty men shall cry out. 15 That day is a day of wrath,A day of trouble and distress,A day of devastation and desolation,A day of darkness and gloominess,A day of clouds and thick darkness, 16 A day of trumpet and alarmAgainst the fortified citiesAnd against the high towers. 17 “I will bring distress upon men,And they shall walk like blind men,Because they have sinned against the Lord;Their blood shall be poured out like dust,And their flesh like refuse.” 18 Neither their silver nor their goldShall be able to deliver themIn the day of the Lord’s wrath; But the whole land shall be devouredBy the fire of His jealousy,For He will make speedy riddanceOf all those who dwell in the land.

The 144,000 of the Great Tribulation – Revelation 7 (February 3, 2019)

Join us this Sunday, February 3, as we celebrate the Lord’s Supper and continue our study in the exciting Book of Revelation. This week we will be looking at the mysterious 144,000 of the Great Tribulation. Who are they? Why are they chosen and what will they do?

Revelation 7:4 NKJV
4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed. One hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed:

The Seventh Seal and the Seven Trumpets – Revelation 8 (February 10, 2019)

We are now at the point of the Book of Revelation when Jesus Christ breaks the seventh and last seal on the prophetic scroll revealing seven angels and their trumpets. In succession, these seven angels blow their trumpets to announce seven end-time events. Join us this Sunday, February 10, as we learn what the first four trumpets mean.

Revelation 8:1-6 NKJV

1 When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets. 3 Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand. 5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake. 6 So the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

We are now at the point of the Book of Revelation when Jesus Christ breaks the seventh and last seal on the prophetic scroll revealing seven angels and their trumpets. In succession, these seven angels blow their trumpets to announce seven end-time events. Join us this Sunday, February 17, as we learn what the fifth trumpet means.

Revelation 9:1, 11 NKJV

1 Then the fifth angel sounded: And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit.
11 And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon.

Join us Sunday, February 24 for worship. We are still in our study of the Book of Revelation. This week we study the significance of the “little book” given to John in Chapter 10.

Revelation 10:1-7 NKJV

1 I saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was on his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire. 2 He had a little book open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, 3 and cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars. When he cried out, seven thunders uttered their voices. 4 Now when the seven thunders uttered their voices, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them.” 5 The angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised up his hand to heaven 6 and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, that there should be delay no longer, 7 but in the days of the sounding of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, the mystery of God would be finished, as He declared to His servants the prophets.

Revelation chapter 11 introduces the Antichrist and two great prophets. Who are these people and how will we recognize them? Join us this Sunday, March 3, as we continue our lesson on the Book of Revelation and try to answer these questions.
Revelation 11:1-6 NKJV

‘Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood, saying, “Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there. But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months. And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.” These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the earth. And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner. These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.’

In Revelation Chapter 12, John sees the vision of woman about to give birth and a devouring dragon waiting to pounce. Who is this woman and child? What is the dragon and why does he want to devour the baby? Join us this Sunday, March 17, as Pastor Barry continues his teaching on The Book of Revelation.

Revelation 12:1-6 NKJV

1 Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. 2 Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth. 3 And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. 4 His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born. 5 She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne. 6 Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days.

This week, March 31, we return to our study in the Book of Revelation. We are in Chapter 13 where the Antichrist and his prophet rise to power in the midst of the Great Tribulation. Who are this Antichrist and false prophet? How are we to recognize them?

Join us for worship at 10:00am as we tackle these difficult questions. We will also be celebrating the Lord’s Supper.

Matthew 24:24 NKJV

24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

I John 2:18 NKJV

18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.

This week, April 28, we continue our focus on Chapter 13 where the Antichrist and his prophet rise to power in the midst of the Great Tribulation. Who are this Antichrist and false prophet? How are we to recognize them?

Matthew 24:24 NKJV

24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

I John 2:18 NKJV

18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.

Sunday, May 15, we will continue our study in the Book of Revelation focusing on John’s visions in Chapter 14 of the Second Coming of Christ.

Revelation 14:1-5 NKJV

1 Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father’s name written on their foreheads. 2 And I heard a voice from heaven, like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of loud thunder. And I heard the sound of harpists playing their harps. 3 They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth. 4 These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb. 5 And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God.

Sunday, May 12, we will continue our study in the Book of Revelation with Part 2 on John’s visions in Chapter 14 of the Second Coming of Christ.

Revelation 14:6-7 NKJV

6 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people— 7 saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”

The Book of Revelation

The Bowl Judgments (May 19, 2019)

Join us this Sunday morning at 10:00 for worship. This week Pastor Barry dives into Revelation 15 & 16 where John has the vision of the seven bowl judgments of the Great Tribulation

Revelation 15:5-8 NKJV
‘After these things I looked, and behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened. And out of the temple came the seven angels having the seven plagues, clothed in pure bright linen, and having their chests girded with golden bands. Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God who lives forever and ever. The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power, and no one was able to enter the temple till the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.

In chapters 17 through 19 we are given an in-depth preview of the rise and fall of Satan’s evil empire on earth during the tribulation. Since Adam and Eve sinned and lost their righteousness and their God given dominion over the earth, Satan has taken it and has had his way on earth with the majority of mankind. After the fall every person would be born a slave into his dark kingdom. When Jesus Christ came and redeemed the earth and mankind from the curse of sin the war was technically won but the battle will continue until Jesus comes back to take by force all that was lost. Until Jesus brings His kingdom to earth the hostile enemy is fighting tooth and nail to corrupt and destroy all that he can. Satan wants to hurt God and inflict as much damage as he can while he can. He knows his time is short. The greatest damage that Satan can do is to steal, kill and destroy what God loves most and that is people. Satan’s methods have always been the same. He tries to separate man from God by getting him to worship anything but God. His greatest desire is to ultimately have people worship himself and for a short time he will succeed on a nearly world-wide scale. In this chapter we see the climax of Satan’s rise to power and worship of the masses just before the end of his freedom on earth.

Revelation 17:1-2 NKJV

1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”

Chapter 18 is the revelation of the end of this world system that is under Satan’s sway and its absolute rebellion against God and everything that is righteous. Even today we have a choice to be in the world but not to be of it. Our mission as citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven while living in this world is to help those who are blind subjects of Satan see the truth of salvation in Jesus Christ and be saved from the wrath to come when Jesus takes this world back by force and His Kingdom comes on earth as it is in Heaven.
I John 2:15-17 NKJV

15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

The Second Coming of Christ: A Worship Service, A Wedding and A War – Part 1 (June 16, 2019)

Join us for worship this Sunday, June 16, at 10:00am. We are nearing the end of our study of The Book of Revelation.

This week Pastor Barry Britt dives into Chapter 19 which focuses on the Second Coming of Christ. This is the climax of the book of Revelation. It has all come to this magnificent moment in time. It begins appropriately with a worship service in heaven, culminates into a beautiful wedding ceremony and ends with a war on earth between Christ and His bride and the beast and his armies.

Revelation 19:5-6 NKJV

5 Then a voice came from the throne, saying, “Praise our God, all you His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!” 6 And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!

The Second Coming of Christ: A Worship Service, A Wedding and A War – Part 2 (June 23, 2019)

Join us for worship this Sunday, June 23, at 10:00am. We are nearing the end of our study of The Book of Revelation.

This week Pastor Barry Britt continues his lesson in Revelation Chapter 19 which focuses on the Second Coming of Christ. This is the climax of the book of Revelation. It has all come to this magnificent moment in time. It begins appropriately with a worship service in heaven, culminates into a beautiful wedding ceremony and ends with a war on earth between Christ and His bride and the beast and his armies.

Revelation 19:11-15 NKJV

11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

The Book of Revelation

The Millennial Kingdom (June 30, 2019)

In chapter 19 we saw the second coming of Christ as He returns to reclaim and redeem the earth. All of His enemies are destroyed and the Antichrist and False prophet are thrown into the lake of fire. Next begins a new time on the earth. It is called by many the Millennial Kingdom. Join us this Sunday, June 30 at 10:00am, as we learn what life will be like during this 1,000 year time of Christ’s reign on earth when all the prayers of the saints are answered. “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.”

Revelation 20:1-10 NKJV

1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while. 4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years. 7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. 9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. 10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

The Great White Throne Judgment (July 7, 2019)

Revelation 20:11-15 NKJV

11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

A New Heaven, A New Earth and A New City – Part 1 (July 14, 2019)

Join us this week as we begin Revelation 21 and see what Heaven will be like, who will be there, as well as who and what won’t be there. A new creation of heaven and earth is described in 21:1-8 and a new Heavenly City is described in 21:9-27 and 22:1-5.

Revelation 21:1-2 NKJV

1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

A New Heaven, A New Earth and A New City – Part 3  (July 28, 2019)

The Book of Revelation

The New Heavenly City (August 4, 2019)

The new heavenly city is unlike any city that has ever existed in this world. Cities are known for their history but this city is new and has no history. They are known for their politics but this city has no political affiliation or differences but has one King. Cities are known for their leaders but this city will be known for its one Lord. They are known for their challenges and even crime but this city will have neither. Cities are known for their structures and scenes, buildings, cathedrals, parks, etc. but this city rivals all and yet is known for what structure is not there, a temple. This is the eternal Heavenly city of God and every person who has ever lived and been redeemed through repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ will be there forever.

Revelation 21:1-5 NKJV

1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” 5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

The Book of Revelation

The New Heavenly City (August 11, 2019)

The Book of Revelation is the last of the written Word of God and the completion of the revelation of Holy Scripture which was written nearly 2,000 years ago. Join us this Sunday August 11th at 10 AM for the conclusion of our study of Revelation and see God’s last words and three very important concluding truths.

Revelation 22:20-21 NKJV

20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! 21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
