She is energetic and strong, a hard worker. She extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms to the needy. She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.
— Proverbs 31:17,20,25-26,30
Welcome to Oasis’s Women of the Word
We are a community of ordinary women, young, old, and in-between, who gather to study God’s word, serve our local community, mentor each other and sometimes just hang out together. You don’t have to be a member of Oasis to be involved. Just come as you are and bring a friend.
Weekly Bible Study:
We meet every Wednesday evening for Bible study. Subjects of study range from diving deeper into the previous Sunday’s sermon to structured bible studies that are pertinent to Christian women in today’s world.
- When: Tuesdays, 10:00am @ Oasis Church
- Where: Oasis Church at the Wharf
Beginning October 5, 2021, we begin a new Bible Study based on the groundbreaking series “The Chosen” season 1, entitled “What Does it Mean to Be Chosen?”
This is the official companion study to Season 1 of The Chosen, the groundbreaking television series about the life of Jesus. What Does It Mean to Be Chosen? parallels each episode, connecting readers to the Bible in a brand-new way. It includes:
- A deeper look at Isaiah 43 and its fulfillment in Jesus and the lives of His followers (including us!)
- Script excerpts, quotes, and illustrations from the show
- Guiding questions for groups or individuals
Being chosen by Jesus has beautiful and far-reaching implications—although it says even more about the Chooser than the choosees. We are loved because He’s love. We are saved because He’s merciful. We belong to the family of God because Jesus invites us, making the Bible and all its promises as true for us today as it was for God’s chosen nation.
What does it actually mean to be Chosen? To answer that question, we’re going Old school—Testament that is—which leads us back to the New. Which always leads us directly to Jesus.
We gather gather once a month at a local restaurant for food, fun and friendship. It’s a great time to just hang out and get to know each other a little better. Anyone can come, and bring a friend too.
- When: The 3rd Monday of every month
- Where: A local restaurant TBD. See Calendar of Events for upcoming events.
